Thrifty Sunday May 10 2010

Its a good thing I found this book, as I think I am going to have to start building some storage space to hold all my recent aquisitions!

I lucked out this week and found 4 pairs of shoes that actually fit me.

These ones aren't beautiful but will be perfect work shoes which I sorely needed
I was thrilled to find these mini bongo's ( the shoe is for size comparison)
I play drums and am always on the lookout for small portable drums to take to the beach
I'm still finding these serving platters. I have so many of them now, I actually feel obliged to buy them when I find them, as I figure, I've bought all the other ones, no point in leaving a lone soldier behind.
I'm glad I found this one as my favorite pot luck dish to make is devilled eggs.
Side view of the egg dish, I love the faux napkin look
These are name card holders for the table, the balls are flat on the bottom. I want to use them to label dishes at the buffet table
I love these elephants, they are gold plated and very detailed, couldn't pass them up!
No comment, jello thighs be gone!
I was motivated to buy this after seeing another blogger using hers as a bathroom catch-all
I got the white dishes for it from the local dollar store. I'm not sure if I will paint it or leave it brass
The picture that inspired me. I think mine is quite a bit bigger than hers. It comes up to my waist when I stand beside it.
I was motivated to get this shadow box so I can.......
make something like this....

This is my treasure find of the week
Lots of detail
A side view of the back of it , showing a stamp saying Beatrice
It's a very old cast iron picture( maybe mirror?) frame. I don't know much about it. The salesman said it had been found in an old museum. he wanted $85 for it, I got it for $50. Alot, I know but I think it is worth money. Not that I care, I didn't buy it to resell, I just fell in love with it. If anyone can help me find out more about it, I would be very grateful. I tried googleing the word Beatrice that is stamped on the back but couldn't find anything relevant.
I'm torn between wanting to clean it up and paint it and just leaving it alone as the old patina has a charm of it's own.
Happy thrifting, may great bargins land in your lap!
